Contact
Please inform the nurse/receptionist that you are in pain and need to be seen urgently. (Please note that this appointment is likely to be with the emergency/on call dentist and not necessarily with your usual dentist)

You may need urgent treatment if you have:

  • Toothache or swelling that suggests an infection of a tooth or gum
  • Severe toothache or facial pain which is not controlled by taking over-the-counter painkillers e.g. one of the following: aspirin, codeine, ibuprofen or paracetamol (it is very important to follow the packets advice and instructions)
  • Trauma of the face, mouth or teeth after a recent accident or injury
  • A permanent tooth being knocked out
bleeding after a tooth extraction that you cannot control
  • Serious swelling of the mouth or face which is getting worse
  • If you do experience one of the above outside of our practice hours, and need to be seen urgently, please call the NHS North West London (Out of Hours) Dental Emergency Service Number on 020 8746 1500. The service is normally available Monday to Friday between 6pm – 10pm, and at weekends and on Bank Holidays between 9am – 10pm.

The above service is usually located at Ghauri Dental Centre, Shepherds Bush, 1-3, Wormholt Road, London W12 0LU located approximately 10 miles from the practice and 25 minutes by car. IT IS ESSENTIAL THAT YOU RING THE ABOVE NUMBER FIRST to speak to a dentist/NHS advisor, who will assess your situation and advise you of your local NHS out of hours practice.

If you can’t contact the dental emergency number above, you can also call a new service which has been set up by NHS Hillingdon. NHS 111 has been introduced to make it easier for you to access local NHS healthcare services. You can call 111 when you need medical help fast but it’s not a 999 emergency. NHS 111 is a fast and easy way to get the right help, whatever the time.
